Giro Tyrant Spherical Helmet

From the brand, Giro started in 1985 by creating the first ventilated, lightweight cycling helmet, the Prolight. Today, Giro is a worldwide leader in equipment for cycling, skiing, and snowboarding, and the company's goods are worn by millions of riders around the world.

The Tyrant MIPS, Montaro MIPS, Artex MIPS, Chronicle MIPS, and Radix MIPS are some of Giro's latest helmet offerings. These helmets feature a range of advanced technologies, including MIPS Spherical, tool-free and bolt-on visors, goggle compatibility, stack ventilation, quick-dry padding, and check pad ventilation. Some models also come with a spare set of cheek pads for fit tuning.

The Tyrant MIPS boasts a hardshell construction with a polycarbonate outer layer and an EPS inner liner, as well as the Roc Loc Air DH fit system and 14 vents with internal channeling. The Montaro MIPS and Artex MIPS feature a full-wrap in-mold polycarbonate shell with an EPS liner, a Roc Loc 5 Air or Roc Loc 5 Air MIPS fit system, and 16 or 25 Wind Tunnel vents, respectively.

The Chronicle MIPS and Radix MIPS both have a full-wrap in-mold polycarbonate shell with an EPS liner, as well as the Roc Loc 5 or Roc Loc 5.5 MIPS fit system and 14 or 25 Wind Tunnel vents. These helmets offer deep coverage, P.O.V. or P.O.V. Plus visors, and extra-plush Coolmax padding.

The MIPS Spherical technology used in these helmets utilizes a pair of foam layers that work like a ball and socket to redirect impact energy in a crash. The EPS layer is well suited to high-speed crashes, while the lower-density EPP foam layer addresses low-speed, roll-around-in-the-dirt-type spills.
